Because of limited vision, he memorized music, learning music by ear fairly automatically. At age 9, he started to attend square and contra dances, quickly learning that music. Over the years, he has lived in many places, adding influences from many cultures. These include Scottish influence from his childhood home in Piedmonte N Carolina, New Jersay where he played for a Morris Dance team, Michigan, where he played really fast jigs for a Rapper Sword Team and 6 months in Wales, where he learned Welsh music. Pianist Don Hughes has some 20 years’ experience accompanying fiddlers. Trained as a classical pianist, he continues to learn the classics one by one. A fellow musician describes him, “Don has a dancer’s feel for tempo and rhythmic emphasis.” He has composed waltzes which may be heard on Sept. 1st. Members of the audience are invited to jam while Adger and Don take their break between 3:00 and 4:00pm. The Museum will be open during the concert and may be visited at other times by appointment.
